LHCOS is excited to officially welcome Ally to the Local Representatives team! Ally joins us from California.
Hello hermit crab family! I’m a 20 year old college student living in Southern California. I became interested in hermit crabs during the COVID-19 pandemic, though I’ve been passionate about advocating for endangered and threatened species of wild animals since I was a child. I even asked for donations to the WWF for my 6th birthday instead of receiving gifts. I am currently raising 10 crabs (4 of them being captive bred babies from Mary), and I am always trying to spoil them with new treats and shells. My mother and 7 year old brother also like to help me with crab care. We are all allergic to most furry pets, so hermit crabs have been perfect for us. Finding CSJ and then LHCOS at the start of my crabbing journey taught me so much about caring for these delicate and beautiful crustaceans, and I’m truly honored to be associated with them now!I have been wanting to become a local rep since I realized that there aren’t many hermit crab enthusiasts on the West Coast, and as someone who generally enjoys volunteer work and education/advocacy, I felt that this would be the right fit for me. I have a passion for visual arts and graphic design and hope to utilize my skills to help educate more people on the proper care of hermit crabs. This community has been so warm and welcoming to me, and I love how so many people from around the world and from different backgrounds have been able to come together and connect through our common passion for hermit crabs. This amazing group is always innovating and evolving, and I really look forward to playing an active role in the whole process!
