The LHCOS Board of Directors would like address a recent Facebook post that circulated, which included what appeared to be a public “banned shops” list associated with LHCOS. That post was shared in error by a well-meaning volunteer and has since been removed.
We want to offer some clarity. The list was part of an outdated internal reference file that should have been archived a long time ago. It was never intended for public release.
The word “banned” is also not really accurate to what the list was for. While the shops listed had, at some point, been flagged for issues that conflicted with LHCOS standards our goal has never been to blacklist or shame anyone. The list was a tool for internal decisions about promotion, specifically whether to allow a shop to use LHCOS platforms for self-promotion. It wasn’t meant to be a public judgment or condemnation.
We understand how this could have caused confusion or hurt, and for that, we sincerely apologize. LHCOS is actively working to be more transparent, more welcoming, and more fair. We care deeply about the integrity of information shared in the hermit crab community, and that includes being thoughtful about how we communicate.
Sincerely
LHCOS Board of Directors
