Why Partner with LHCOS
The Land Hermit Crab Owners Society (LHCOS) works with individuals, organizations, educators, and mission-aligned groups who share our commitment to ethical hermit crab care, public education, and the protection of wild populations.
Partnerships help us expand educational reach, improve care standards, and reduce harm caused by misinformation and unethical practices. We prioritize collaborations that place animal welfare and conservation above commercial interests.
Who We Partner With
We welcome partnerships with:
- Nonprofit organizations and educational institutions
- Conservation and captive-breeding initiatives
- Ethical businesses and creators aligned with responsible care standards
- Event organizers, speakers, and educators
- Community leaders working to improve animal welfare outcomes
All partnerships must align with LHCOS values, ethics, and mission.
Types of Partnerships
Educational & Outreach Partners
Collaborations focused on education, research dissemination, classroom programs, workshops, or public awareness campaigns.
Program & Initiative Partners
Organizations or individuals supporting or collaborating on LHCOS programs, including education initiatives, advocacy efforts, or resource distribution.
Event & Conference Partners
LHCOS collaborates on educational events, including conferences and public learning opportunities. For example, LHCOS co-hosts Crab Con, an educational conference operated under Hermit House, in support of shared conservation goals.
Ethical Business Engagement
Businesses interested in aligning with LHCOS values may engage through structured programs, including the LHCOS Approved Sellers program, when applicable. Participation does not guarantee endorsement and does not influence educational content.
What Partnership Is Not
To protect the integrity of our work:
- LHCOS does not offer pay-to-play partnerships
- Partnerships do not grant control over educational content, policy positions, or advocacy
- We do not collaborate with entities that promote harmful practices, misinformation, or unethical sourcing
This clarity allows us to partner openly while maintaining trust with the community we serve.
How We Evaluate Partnerships
All partnership requests are reviewed to ensure alignment with:
- Animal welfare and conservation ethics
- Educational accuracy and transparency
- Nonprofit compliance and independence
- Community impact and long-term outcomes
Some partnerships may require formal review or approval by the LHCOS Board of Directors, depending on scope and duration.
Existing Collaborative Relationships
LHCOS frequently collaborates with aligned organizations and educational platforms, including The Crab Street Journal, and works closely with Hermit House in support of shared conservation missions. These relationships are cooperative, not controlling, and each organization remains independent.
Additional transparency about these relationships is available on our Sources, Relationships & Disclosures page.
Start a Partnership Conversation
If you believe your organization or project aligns with LHCOS’s mission and values, we welcome an initial conversation.
Please be prepared to share:
- Your organization or project overview
- How the partnership supports ethical care and conservation
- Any commercial or financial components involved
- Proposed scope and timeline
Not all requests will move forward, but every inquiry is reviewed respectfully and thoughtfully.
