Corporate matching donations are one way supporters can amplify their impact for the Land Hermit Crab Owners Society (LHCOS). LHCOS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to education, ethical care standards, advocacy, and conservation of land hermit crabs. Matching gifts help extend the reach of donations that support free educational resources, outreach, and habitat preservation.
This page explains how corporate matching donations work and how you can take advantage of them to support our mission without altering program priorities or organizational independence.
The Land Hermit Crab Owners Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation, education, and support of land hermit crab care and habitat preservation. Our mission is to:
- Educate the public on the ethical care of hermit crabs.
- Advocate for sustainable and humane hermit crab harvesting practices.
- Promote environmental conservation efforts to preserve natural hermit crab habitats.
Founded by passionate hermit crab enthusiasts, LHCOS has grown into a vibrant community supporting crab owners and the ecosystem these fascinating creatures depend on.
Why Your Support Matters
Land hermit crabs face numerous challenges, including habitat destruction and unethical pet trade practices. With your donations, LHCOS can:
- Provide free resources to improve hermit crab care.
- Fund educational workshops and webinars.
- Support habitat restoration and preservation initiatives.
- Conduct outreach to advocate for sustainable practices.
Many employers offer corporate matching gift programs, where a company will match donations made by their employees to eligible nonprofit organizations. Matching gifts can sometimes double or even triple the impact of a donation with no additional cost to the donor. Typically, companies match at a 1:1 rate, though some may match at higher ratios depending on their corporate giving policies.
To find out if your employer offers a matching gift program, check with your human resources department or corporate giving portal.
Many corporate matching programs require donors to submit a request to their employer after making a gift. To get started:
- make your donation to LHCOS
- save your donation receipt
- contact your employer’s matching gift program office or search their matching gift portal
- follow their submission process to request the corporate match
What Is Donation Matching?
Donation matching is a corporate giving initiative in which an employer matches their employee’s contribution to a specific cause, increasing the gift. For example, if an employee at Cisco donates $50 to a local organization, the matching gift would be Cisco’s additional donation of $50. That results in a $100 total donation for the Land Hermit Crab Owners Society!
Corporate matching gifts are a form of corporate philanthropy offered by employers. Acceptance of a matching gift does not imply organizational endorsement of a company’s products, services, or other practices. Matching gifts do not influence how LHCOS sets educational standards, conservations priorities, or community policies. Our programs remain guided by animal welfare and evidence-based education.
LHCOS is a nonprofit organization recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations and matching gifts help fund educational resources, outreach initiatives, and conservation programs that align with our mission. Tax deductibility of donations and matching gifts may vary based on individual circumstances; consult your tax advisor for details.
